About Aquaponics Direct
Aquaponics Direct is a subsidiary of Showkoi Limited, a leading supplier of temporary ponds for the aquatics industry. We are a British company based in Sheffield where all our products are designed and manufactured.
We came across aquaponics in 2010 and instantly saw the potential benefits of the concept, but knowledge was limited, especially in the UK, so we started gaining knowledge from various sources and site visits. Also system availability was limited and expensive, so we started developing and testing small systems with the aim of being simple and affordable.
In December 2015, Showkoi Limited formed a subsidiary, Aquaponics Direct Ltd to meet this aspiration.
Further developments from these small systems are larger systems to shape the future of modern farming and urban opportunities, utilising the fish tank capabilities of Showkoi and developing hydroponic growing systems, such as media beds, vertical growing systems, wicking beds, hanging baskets, etc.
The vision is to make Sheffield the capital of urban farming using aquaponics, then share this knowledge and products to allow everyone around the world to recreate the same to suit their requirements.
